As modern society enters an increasingly diversified era of vision, graphic design has never been so advanced. An impressive design is the combination of knowledge and culture, as well as the spiritual embodiment of contemporary life. A remarkable, creative idea of a design can often directly reflect the aesthetic values, fashion, and quality of life of the time.
This exhibition is a taste of Chinese graphic design illuminating the country’s path to development over the past two decades, showcasing posters, logos, packaging, book covers and designs for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. A glimpse, rather than a panoramic view, is sufficient for gaining a basic grasp of the achievements and current development of contemporary Chinese graphic design.Cutting-edge design is gaining growing importance as part of China’s modernization, becoming one of the most thriving industries. Outstanding designs are having an enormous impact on society, leading and changing societal life in many ways.
The openness and tolerance inherent in Chinese culture is also evident in Chinese contemporary graphic design. Chinese designers, while embracing ideas and approaches from abroad, have not forgotten their time-honoured cultural traditions. By ingeniously employing a rich and colourful array of Chinese elements, they allow their work to embody contemporary and cosmopolitan features, as well as the wisdom of the traditional Chinese mindset.
