A Touring Exhibition from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China
14 AUGUST - 5 OCTOBER 2008
Please note that this exhibition will be on view at our interim gallery space located at Peachtree Walk Arcade, 80 Horton Street, Port Macquarie. Phone (02) 6581 8737
Organised by the Australian Embassy of the People's Republic of China, this exhibition of 100 woodblock prints, screenprints, lithographs, copper plates and etchings takes us through 100 years of printmaking in China.
With more than two thousand years of printing history, the exhibition shows both traditional printmaking and the "new printing" introduced in 1931 by Lu Xun. The new print differs not only in technique but also in artistic ideals and social implication.
The visual language of art transcends barriers to spoken language to present a beautiful and haunting exhibition of maturity and purity.
