Did you know that over 99% of all animal species are invertebrates (animals without a backbone), or that spineless creatures comprise over 30 major animal groups and over 5 million species? To raise awareness of the wonderful world of invertebrates, the Australian Museum holds an annual photographic competition.
The competition is open to both amateur and professional photographers and the results are outstanding. Get up close to the winners from this year's competition and see the fascinating and amazing diversity of these unusual spineless creatures.
