Since our last update, contractors have completed the investigations stage of the project, ascertaining the extent of water damage behind the walls in the Gallery.

This involved cutting 30 inspection holes across the western walls on both levels of the space. Inspections for water damage were then carried out by the structural engineer with positive results, no visible signs of swelling, mould or change are present behind the plywood and gyprock.

The western walls have now been sealed off so the dehumidifiers can focus on the space and continue to dry out the wall cavity.

This week (commencing 24 April), a hygienist will inspect the site, test for mould and conduct specialist cleaning if required. Contractor site visits are also booked so that we can obtain quotes to pull down the damaged ceilings, repair the walls and paint the Gallery.

The Glasshouse Regional Gallery is hopeful that the gallery will be open again in July with the much-loved ARTEXPRESS exhibition.

We thank you for your support and patience and we look forward to updating you soon with further updates.

Warmest, the Gallery and Glasshouse Team
