The Cementa Inc. Regional Artist Mentoring Program 2021 is a twelve-month program designed to deliver professional development to NSW based regional artists through an integrated program of mentorship, skills delivery, networking opportunities and creative development in the lead up to a group exhibition at Firstdraft Gallery, Woolloomooloo in early 2022. The program includes bi-monthly 2 hour sessions with:

  • Creative Producer Amala Groom on your practice, including 'Why we make art and what we want to say in our practice' and 'What makes great art? An overview of Australian contemporary art practice'
  • Program Mentors Liam Benson, Claudia Nicholson, Phil James and Deborah Kelly
  • Industry Mentors Artspace, Performance Space, Campbelltown Art Centre, PARI and 107 Projects including ‘pitch training’, ‘who’s who in the ARI zoo’ and ‘how to develop a sustainable career as an artist’

This program provides a comprehensive online resource base for the Program Artists to access in their own time which will include audio, visual audio and text-based resources with lists linking to websites of Australian contemporary artists; all Australian ARI’s and Regional and State Galleries, templates and examples for writing and presenting artist statements, biographies, curriculum vitaes, visual support material, budgets, activity details/timelines and other information that will prepare the Program Artists for grant writing.

The Glasshouse Regional Gallery is elated to be a confirmed Project Partner and is committed to working collaboratively in putting forward five regional artists for consideration for program participation.
