Blackmans Point Massacre

Blackmans Point Massacre is a short documentary on Port Macquarie’s most violent historical event. A narrative that has been silenced for close to 200 years is examined to uncover the truth that happened in 1826. This includes the lens of colonists, the ongoing denial, and the voices of Birpai people, and what impact acknowledgement of this sacred site means for the healing of the entire community.

The film was created by Big Mob Productions and recently launched at CSU during the Bicentenary events in April.

The panel discussion held after the screening was filmed, and has now been included in the final production. Sam Mehan from Big Mob Productions and local Birpai Elder Aunty Rhonda Radley will attend each screening to discuss the film and answer questions.
