Arcadia - Laura Jones

Sydney based artist and 2019 Artist in Residence, Laura Jones presents Arcadia a solo exhibition that celebrates our spirited local Port Macquarie coastal landscape. Jones’ signature vivid colourful still lifes and spirited landscapes are scaled up to depict familiar sub-tropical flora. Banksias, flannel flowers, banana plants and frangipanis, rock pools with urchins and Neptune’s pearls are all captured with unashamed reverence for beauty.

duality - Asher Milgate

Asher Milgate’s work responds to the historic ‘Australian’ identity. Drawing from direct accounts Milgate discusses the collisions of colonisation and effects of prosperity and trauma. duality is a transferal of history, of lived experiences echoed through photography, video, installation and sound recordings. Milgate seeks to engage the public’s interest in the breath of the ‘Australian’ landscape, through diversity, similarity and dual perspectives.

Northern Exposure Six

Now in its sixth year, Northern Exposure has become renowned for showcasing the vibrant creativity of the Mid North Coast. The exhibition presents a cross section of artistic practice, including sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, mosaic and mixed media artworks. The Glasshouse Regional Gallery is very proud of Northern Exposure as it is a cornerstone of the Gallery’s program to support artists within the local community and provide professional development opportunities.
