Opera Australia Children’s Chorus
Part of 2022 GLASSHOUSE SELECT Theatre Program
We are thrilled to introduce our 2022 Opera Australia Children’s Chorus!
The Regional Children’s Chorus program has given 24 children from the Port Macquarie-Hastings region the chance to perform as the Chorus in Opera Australia’s touring regional production of The Barber of Seville, on Saturday 13 August 2022, at the Glasshouse.
We are so thankful for their enthusiasm and commitment to this fabulous opportunity! Consider buying a ticket to this production to support our wonderful young people.

The children train with local Chorus Master, Victoria Stanmore. Victoria has trained in Piteå, Sweden at a Masters level with Erik Westberg and Petter Sundkvist, with an emphasis on chamber choir leadership. She is a member of the NSW board of the Australian National Choral Association.
On the day of the performance, children rehearse onstage with the professional cast and orchestra, then perform in costume that night. Side by side with some of Opera Australia’s finest singers, the Children’s Chorus will feel the magic of live theatre performance.
Through the rehearsal and performance process, children also gain a wider understanding of opera, which we hope sparks interest in future artistic pursuits.
