The Glasshouse Regional Gallery presents around 20 to 25 diverse exhibitions each year featuring contemporary, indigenous, historical, traditional, design and sculptural artworks as well as a number of prominent social history exhibitions. Exhibitions are programmed approximately two to three years in advance and target three distinct focus areas:
- Glasshouse Regional Gallery Exhibitions featuring the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council Art Collection
- Community access exhibitions featuring local artists and cultural organisations; and
- Touring exhibitions presented in partnership with significant Australian arts and cultural organisations.
The Council Collection feature regularly within the exhibition program. Development of the Council Collection has been a key area of focus for the Gallery over the past three years. Over this time the Gallery has acquired approximately 70 works for the Collection.
A key objective of the Gallery’s program is to support artists within the local community and provide professional development opportunities associated with the exhibition program. Northern Exposure is a selected exhibition that is scheduled every two years and is open to all artists across the region.
Touring exhibitions provide access to quality artists and cultural experiences not otherwise available within the region. As with the performance spaces, the Gallery also promotes a range of education and public programs directly associated with the exhibition program presented during the year. This program is provided to foster audience development and enhance visitation to the Gallery exhibitions.
Please note: the Glasshouse Regional Gallery is closed on Mondays.
The Glasshouse Regional Gallery program is supported by the NSW Government through Arts NSW.
